Privacy policy.

Effective August 8, 2026

This policy explains what we collect when you visit this site, ask us about driving opportunities, refer another driver, or apply to join our partner carrier group, and what you can tell us to stop doing. Plain language, no rewards for reading the fine print.

01

Who we are

This site is operated by OTR Group(“OTR Group,” “we,” “us”), a Driver Advisory company based at Bolingbrook, Illinois. This policy covers theotrgroup.com and the forms on it. It does not cover any third-party site we link to, or what a partner carrier does with your information once you go to work for them.

What we are, and aren't

We are not a trucking company. We do not own trucks, haul freight, or employ drivers. We are an advisory company that helps CDL-A drivers evaluate opportunities at a small group of vetted partner carriers. Any job you take is with that carrier, not with us.

Questions, or want to exercise a right described below? Email mo@theotrgroup.com or call (630) 822-9503.

02

What we collect

We collect only what we need for the thing you asked us to do. We do not ask for your Social Security number, date of birth, or driver's license number anywhere on this website, and we never will. A carrier collects those later, on its own application, if you choose to pursue one.

Categories of personal information
CategoryExamplesWhy we collect it
IdentifiersName, phone number, email address, ZIP code, IP address, cookie and device identifiersTo answer your inquiry, talk with you about driving opportunities, and operate the site
Professional or employment informationYears of CDL-A experience, CDL class and endorsements, equipment preference, what you want out of your next jobTo tell you honestly whether we have something that fits before either of us spends more time
Business information (carriers only)Company name, your role, and details about the operation you runTo evaluate trucking companies that apply to join our partner group
Internet or network activityPages viewed, referring URL, approximate time on page, general device and browser dataTo keep the site working and understand which ads and pages actually bring people in
Coarse locationZIP code you give us; approximate city/region inferred from IP addressTo match you to carriers that actually run freight near where you live. We do not collect precise GPS location from this site
Information about someone elseThe name, phone number and email of a driver you refer to usTo contact the person you referred and to pay your referral bonus if they are hired
If you refer a driver

You are giving us someone else's contact details. Please only submit them if that person actually asked you to, or agreed to hear from us. We contact referred drivers once, we identify who referred them, and we stop immediately if they ask us to.

03

Where it comes from

  • Directly from you, forms on this site, Meta (Facebook and Instagram) lead forms, phone calls, email, and text messages.
  • Automatically from your device when you browse the site, through cookies and similar technologies.
  • From advertising platforms, when you respond to one of our ads.
  • From a driver we have worked with, if they refer you to us.
04

How we use it

  • To talk with you about driving opportunities and to understand what you are actually looking for.
  • To match you against openings at our partner carriers, and to introduce you to the ones you agree to.
  • To put the details of an offer in writing for you, pay, miles, home time, equipment, freight, benefits, deductions, and orientation.
  • To administer the driver referral program, including confirming the hire and the 14-day mark, and paying each installment.
  • To operate, secure, and improve the site, and to measure which advertising works.
  • To meet our tax, accounting, and recordkeeping obligations.

We do not sell your information. We do not use it to make automated decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you without a human involved. A person reads every driver's situation.

05

Advertising, and what we share with Meta

We advertise on Meta platforms. If you enable advertising cookies, we share limited information with Meta, such as identifiers, the pages you viewed, and whether you submitted a form, so we can measure our ads and show them to people like you.

Read this part

Under California law this counts as “sharing” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising, and under other state laws it counts as processing for “targeted advertising”, even though no money changes hands. You can turn it off at any time, and we honor that signal for both browser-side and server-side advertising tools.

To turn it off, use Your Privacy Choices, linked in the footer of every page. We also honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) browser signal automatically, if your browser sends GPC, we treat it as an opt-out of sharing for advertising, apply it during your current visit, and pass it through to our server-side advertising tools. You do not need to do anything else.

We never send sensitive information to any advertising platform. Not Social Security numbers, not driver's license or CDL numbers, and not medical or drug-and-alcohol testing data.

06

Cookies and tracking

Cookies are small files stored by your browser. We group ours into two buckets:

  • Strictly necessary: required to serve the site, remember your privacy choices, and block abuse. These always run; the site does not work without them.
  • Analytics and advertising: measure traffic and ad performance, and support Meta advertising as described above. These run only if you allow them.

You can change your mind at any time through Your Privacy Choices, and you can clear or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the site.

07

Who we share it with

  • Partner carriers. This is the main one. When you and we agree that a carrier is worth pursuing, we send that carrier what you told us: your name, contact details, experience, CDL class and endorsements, and what you are looking for. We tell you which carriers before we send anything, and we do not shop you around to carriers you have not agreed to.
  • Service providers who run things on our behalf, website hosting and analytics, email and text messaging, and our customer records system. They may use your information only to perform that service for us.
  • Advertising platforms, as described above, and only if you have allowed advertising cookies. We never send a driver's details to an advertising platform.
  • Government agencies or others where the law requires it, or to protect our rights, safety, or property.
  • A buyer or successor, if the business is sold or merged.
What we don't do

We do not run background checks, pull your MVR, query the Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse, or contact your previous employers. Everything we pass to a carrier is what you told us yourself. If a carrier wants to verify your record, it does that under its own authority, with its own forms and your separate permission.

We do not sell driver information, and we do not trade or share it with other recruiters, lead brokers, or carriers outside our partner group.

08

Calls and text messages

If you give us your phone number and check the consent box, you agree we may call and text you about driving opportunities, including with automated technology. Consent is not a condition of employment, of applying, or of getting a quote, you can always reach us by phone or email instead. Message and data rates may apply, and message frequency varies.

You can stop the messages at any time and by any reasonable means: reply STOP, QUIT, END, CANCEL, UNSUBSCRIBE, REVOKE or OPT OUT to any text; tell whoever calls you; or email us. Reply HELP for help. We honor every opt-out within ten business days, and typically far sooner. Opting out of marketing does not stop us from replying to something you asked us about.

09

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have some or all of these rights. We extend them to everyone who asks, regardless of state, because sorting people by ZIP code is not worth the trouble:

  • Know what personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it.
  • Correct information that is wrong.
  • Delete information we hold about you.
  • Opt out of sharing your information for targeted advertising.
  • Limit how we use sensitive personal information.
  • Not be discriminated or retaliated against for exercising any of these rights.

To make a request, email mo@theotrgroup.com or call (630) 822-9503. We will verify your identity, usually by confirming details you already gave us, and respond within 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you why and take no more than 45 additional days. An authorized agent may submit a request for you with written permission.

If we say no

You may appeal by replying to our decision or emailing us with “Appeal” in the subject line. We will review it and give you a written answer within 45 days. If we deny the appeal, we will tell you how to complain to your state Attorney General.

10

If you go on to apply at a carrier

Submitting a form here is an inquiry to us. It is not a job application, and it does not create an employment relationship with anyone, not with us, and not with a carrier.

If you decide to pursue a carrier, you apply to that carrier directly. Their application will ask for much more than we do, date of birth, Social Security number, license number, employment history, because federal motor carrier regulations require it of them. At that point you are dealing with the carrier under its own privacy practices, its own background-check disclosures, and its own authorizations. Read them. We are happy to walk you through anything that isn't clear, but we are not a party to it.

11

How long we keep it

  • Inquiries and leads that do not become applications: up to 24 months from your last contact with us, then deleted.
  • Records of your consent to be called or texted, and of any opt-out: at least 5 years, because we may need to prove what you agreed to and when.
  • Referral submissions: for the life of the referral plus 4 years, for tax and payment records.
  • Records of which carriers we introduced you to and what we sent them: 4 years, so we can answer questions about it later.
  • Website and advertising analytics: generally 14 months in aggregated or de-identified form.
12

Security

Form submissions travel over encrypted connections and are stored encrypted. Access is limited to the people working on your inquiry. No system is perfectly secure and we will not pretend otherwise, but we deliberately do not collect Social Security numbers, dates of birth, or license numbers anywhere, and we do not hold background reports or driving records. There is far less here to lose, by design.

13

Children

This site is meant for adults seeking work or freight services. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 16. If you believe a minor has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

14

Changes to this policy

We will update this page when our practices change, and we will change the effective date at the top. If a change materially affects your rights, we will say so clearly rather than burying it.
